ThThe Power of Play

What is adaptive video gaming?

Adaptive or accessible gaming means making video games easier for everyone to play, no matter your body or how you play. This can include specialized controllers, voice commands, eye tracking, or in-game accessibility options. Here at Warfighter Engaged, we are committed to serving the veteran and gaming community, and focus our energy on sharing the knowledge we’ve gained over the years and advocating for accessibility on a broad scale.

Here are some common questions we hear about adaptive video gaming:

  • There are a lot of benefits to participating in adaptive video gaming! It’s a great way to have fun, challenge your mind, and connect with others. It can offer a sense of independence, accomplishment, and creativity. Many games help improve focus, memory, and problem-solving skills while keeping your brain active and engaged. Gaming also creates chances to meet people, make friends, and be part of online communities where you’re included and valued. Whether you play alone or with others, adaptive gaming opens the door to new experiences and meaningful connection.

  • We offer consultations, adaptive gaming clinics, and evaluations by our trained occupational therapists to recommend you the products you need to start gaming! Our team will consider your personal needs and demonstrate how you can play your video game regardless of a physical impairment
